young Bee Gees: Don't Say Goodbye

I looked over their disco-era songs and couldn't bear to post any more. So here's an oldie I found:

The Bee Gees: How Deep Is Your Love

As I mentioned before, my favorite songs by the Bee Gees were their earlier pre-disco hits. I've read that the Bee Gees songs used for the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack weren't even written with disco in mind. They were cutting or had already cut an album full of songs, and were asked if they could have their music used in this new movie. And suddenly they were a disco group!

In any case, I still prefer their older hits. Here's one of my favorites of their later hits:

The Bee Gees: Nights On Broadway

Do you like irony as much as I do? Because ironically I don't care for the falsetto voices that the Bee Gees used in most of their most well known songs during the disco-era, yet from what I've read it was "Nights On Broadway" that got them going with falsettos. And "Nights On Broadway" is one of my favorite songs by them.

Maurice's falsetto towards the end of the song is only used as an accent though. (All these years, I thought it was Barry doing the falsetto!)

The Bee Gees: Holiday

I haven't seen this before tonight - it looks more like a home movie.

Although the Bee Gees preferred early on in their career to be known as a complete band, they eventually became known as the three Gibb brothers.

Takes some getting used to to see Maurice with hair!

The Bee Gees: To Love Somebody

Its difficult to believe that both the twins, Maurice and Robin, have passed on.

The Bee Gees: New York Mining Disaster 1941

Another album I grew up with was Bee Gees Gold, which is to say I grew up with them before they became better known for disco.

The 5th Dimension: Up, Up & Away

I see I missed another day on this blog... oh well, I may miss some more.

Here is one of their most familiar songs. Until I found this video, I didn't realize it was written by Jimmy Webb:
